Overview

We offer you a wonderful day trip from Fez to Rabat, including comfortable air-conditioned transportation to pick you up from your hotel or riad and a drive to “Rabat,” the capital and most important city in Morocco. The major sights you’ll see include the Medina, Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Chellah, and Udayas.

What to Expect

In the morning around 8am our driver will meet you and transport you in an air conditioning vehicle to Rabat Morocco’s Capital. Along the way we will make several stops just for you if you want to take some pictures and enjoy the cool air. When you arrive in Rabat, you will begin your exploration of the city firstly by the iconic Hassan Tower, a majestic unfinished mosque where you can see stork nests and which has a significant site overlooking the Bou-regreg River. The mausoleum of Mohammed V is located next to the tower and is embellished with gorgeous and vibrant glass windows, a marble and iron-wrought entrance, and numerous stairways that lead up to the lofty dome.

After that we will make a stop at the river of Bou-regreg, then we continue to the Udayas Kasbah, which was constructed during the Almohad period (1121–1269), and was initially used as a walled rampart to defend the city. You will then go to Udaya’s imposing gate, which also exemplifies the military architecture of Almohad. Visit the Udayas Museum and the palace of Moulay Ismail which have great collections of traditional Moroccan arts. You will have time to unwind in the Moorish-styled Andalusian garden.

There are so many places to see today, and after that, you can explore the potent Roman port of Chellah. Don’t miss the modern Medina, also, with its lavish green spaces, large boulevards and avenues dotted with brand-new apartment buildings, Moroccan banks, and railroad.

Every city you visit has both an Old Medina and a New Medina, so after touring the New Medina, we’ll head to the Old Medina. You will make your way through a maze of busy souks, artisan stores, and the Jewish Quarter. Finally get back to the car and your driver will take you back to Fez.
