What to Expect

In the morning around 10am our driver will meet you and transport you in an air conditioning vehicle. On our way we will make some short stops to take pictures of the sublime landscapes including Dam Achahad. You will arrive at the Roman ruins of Volublis in order to explore the 2000-year-old remains and learn more about the historical and cultural aspects of this lost city. You can take your time and stroll through the ruins on your own, taking in the capitoline temple, Carasalla, and Basilica’s arch.

After visiting the ruins, you’ll travel on to the holy city of Moulay Idriss. Non-Muslims aren’t permitted to enter the mosque, but just a quick glance from the outside will give you an idea of all that’s going on within. After that, you’ll explore the medina of the city with its lovely labyrinths, notice the zaouia’s green-tiled pyramids, and ascend the hill for a stunning panoramic view.

Upon arrival at Meknes, you have a break for lunch, then start exploring the city starting at the magnificent Bab Mansour gate, followed by other gates like the royal palace gate, Bab Khemis, and Bab Berdaine. The mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, who was instrumental in locating the Alaouite dynasty, will be your next stop. Stables, El Hadim Place, the granaries, and last but not least, the museum of Moroccan art, are also the city’s major attractions that you will visit. As soon as our tour is over, our driver will return you to your Fez lodging.
